A FEW years ago the comedian Harry Enfield created a wonderful character, one of those busy-body little men who are utterly convinced they know best on every subject you care to imagine.
No matter what the expert opinion on the subject, this little man would dismiss every idea but his own, with a condescending smirk and the catchphrase: “You don’t want to do it like that, you want to do it like this”.

Having read Cllr Evans’ lette
r (Global Warming is a huge fiction) I think he is perhaps Scarborough’s answer to that character. Not only does Cllr Evans dismiss the work of tens of thousands of honest and dedicated scientists whose work supports every aspect of the theory that human burning of fossil fuels is causing the planet to warm up, but he also manages to misrepresent the one scientist whose work he does refer to.

Has Cllr Evans actually read Professor Svensmark’s work? I have several of his papers. They do not mention man-made global warming, let alone claim to refute it. Professor Svensmark does not claim that his work “would make the man-made global warming theory redundant.” Only Cllr Evans makes this claim.

In my work I have talked to quite a number of the world’s leading climate researchers. They are not part of some mysterious Green conspiracy, nor are they misinformed. Cllr Evans however, is sadly misinformed and rather out of his depth.
