MY HUSBAND and I have returned from a trip to Spital Farm, near Staxton roundabout. What a surprise greeted us, a Dickensian village complete with winding streets and shops all selling traditional goods. As a setting it must rival the Castle Museum in York.
We also met a wonderful Victorian Santa in his grotto, a must for children of all ages. A visit to the Ridings Tea Rooms completed our first visit.

If you want to recreate a real Christmas past for your family this place is a must. We will be back for more visits with the family before Christmas.
