Don't spoil our great gardens

THE Crescent Gardens looked wonderful in the sunshine today at approximately 1.45pm when I walked through, and for, the one hundredth time, I thought, how lucky I was to see this park regularly and how it holds a lot of affection from so many people in Scarborough.
The dedicated team of council gardeners worked quietly away in the bottom corner, removing shrubs and planting new colourful plants for us all to enjoy.

Indeed, they only paused and waited for a man to pass with two large white dogs, one of which was urinating all over the shrubs.

At that moment four other dogs were doing just the same thing over the lawns, one of which took considerable time to ‘toilet’. The dog owners patiently waited – smiling to themselves – then they too strolled along.

The care of the Crescent Gardens is extremely expensive, and the gardeners show a great deal of skill and dedication and also patience. This must be sorely tried when mowing the lawns, they are showered with grass cuttings and many times dog faeces.

I wonder if dog owners are aware of this? They are aware of the dangers to children through serious infection, even when they “pick up” – somehow I think they just couldn’t give a damn!
