Re the controversial parking charges at South Cliff car park.
The meter was installed well before the QE2 bypassed Scarborough earlier this year. When we went to view the QE2 it was impossible to get into the car park as it was absolutely jam-packed.

We couldn't even park quite near because cars were parked on the nearby double yellow lines. I wonder how much money the council took from the meter that day, considering there were hundreds of cars there.

It should have been a considerable amount if everyone paid, but obviously everyone did not pay, and if they didn't then the council lost out, and also missed a tremendous opportunity to take the non-payers to court for illegal parking.

If there was a parking attendant there the poor chap would not have enough tickets or enough time to write out the tickets for the hundreds of illegally parked cars.

Hopefully he would have an extra pen and a strong wrist! So bad planning by the council.

If anyone had seen an attendant writing out tickets I suspect word would have got around and he would get lynched!
