WITH reference to the Remembrance Service held at the War Memorial, Oliver's Mount.
As chairman of the Scarborough and Ryedale branch of the British Korean Veterans Association and a member of the Scarborough & District Football Associa-tion of which I was present, I endorse the remarks made regarding the shouting and abusive language coming from the football pitches whilst the service was being held.

Especially when the two minutes’ silence was being observed to remember all those who gave their lives in both world wars and other conflicts.

With regards to any Football Association games that were played on Oliver’s Mount, the teams were given instructions that the kick-off time be 10.10am to ensure that the half time coincided with the two minutes silence. For future reference, my personal feeling is that any games due to be played on that date should either be postponed or played at a later time of 11.15am.

There is also a problem with traffic whilst the service is being held, would it not be possible to close the road until the service is finished.
