THE faces of two youngsters will not be the only things lighting up today as this year's Design A Light illuminations are switched on.
Each year Scarborough's town centre features two special Christmas lights designed by creative children.

This year the competition, which is organised by the Scarborough Town Centre Management, was run through the Evening News, and won by Reece Waller, eight, and six-year-old George Hodgson.

Today the two boys will join Scarborough mayor Eileen Vickers for the grand switch-on. Reece, who is a pupil at Barrowcliff Junior School, was a runner-up in last year's competition. His snowman bauble light will be switched on at 4.30pm in Vernon Road. Shortly afterwards, George will switch on his light in Bar Street, and watch as his angel playing the saxophone comes to life.

George, who a pupil at Newby and Scalby Primary School, says he is really excited about showing his family and his teacher his light.
