ENVIRONMENTAL bosses are on flood alert in North Yorkshire.
Heavy rain is forecast over the next couple of days and staff are double checking the area’s pumping stations are working okay.

“The Environment Agency’s own forecasters are working with Met Office colleagues to ensure that timely flood warnings can be issued when needed to give residents and businesses as much opportunity as possible to keep themselves and their property safe,” said a spokesman.

The bad weather has already put today’s cricket game between Yorkshire and Sussex in doubt after rain caused yesterday’s play at North Marine Road to be abandoned.

Last year, Filey was badly hit by flooding while Seamer was affected earlier this summer.
