SCARBOROUGH has been chosen to host a downhill mountain bike event featuring 300 national and international riders which could bring thousands of people to the town.
The Fat Face urban downhill race, on Saturday October 4, will start from the rocky headland near Scarborough Castle and head down to the seafront and pier.

Competitors will be given the opportunity to showcase their skills and race down a testing course.

It will feature steep steps, purpose-built wooden jumps and a downhill race, followed by a late night after-race party.

The inaugural event was held last year in Edinburgh and proved a huge success, attracting more than 5,000 people to watch.

Organisers say the day will be family friendly and offer a competitive race for people of varying abilities.

More details on the race will be announced next week and online entries will be accepted from Monday at www.nps4x.com
